In the early 1900s, the Magaliesberg Mountains were home to a thriving population of African elephants. However, due to human activity and habitat pressure, these gentle giants disappeared from the region. A century later, they have returned to a protected sanctuary, nestled within the Magaliesberg Nature Reserve, just one hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria.
This malaria-free sanctuary is set amidst indigenous bushveld, providing a natural habitat not only for elephants but also for impala, klipspringer, baboons, porcupines, caracals, leopards, and over 350 bird species. The sanctuary is dedicated to the preservation and well-being of six magnificent African elephants, offering visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with these incredible creatures.
Guests are guided in small groups on foot through the Elephant Sanctuary, ensuring a personal and immersive experience. Your journey includes:
Morning Tour Only (VELS-1) – After an unforgettable hour-long experience, guests can relax and enjoy lunch on the main deck, overlooking the elephants in their serene environment.
This tour offers a deep and meaningful connection with one of Africa’s most iconic animals, making it an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
